On february 23 2020 i took this picture. The evening before the newspapers had reported the first cases of Coronavirus in Italy and the first matches had been postponed in Northern Italy. That day, I decided to go to Turin to try to tell through my shots the reaction of the citizens to the news of the very first infections. Arriving at the train station, it seemed to have arrived on the set of an apocalyptic movie. Suddenly, most of the people were wearing a safety mask. I started taking pictures of what was little more than a psychosis at that time, the real health emergency had not started yet. That day I walked more than 15 km to bring home a good report, and to do a great job. In Piazza Castello (a central square) I noticed this particular situation: in the background stood a carefree couple, whereas in the foreground sat a woman with a safety mask. On one hand, the lightheartedness that has been taken away from us today, and on the other hand, the nightmare we are currently experiencing. I never would have said it when I took this picture that we would have reached this point. Unbelievable.
